The assessment brief
Explain the home, existing evidence, known problems and intended outcome. If a scheme or another professional requested records, include the exact requirement. The assessment quotation should identify its output and intended recipient.
The wider project team
A coordinator or designer may use assessment information to guide later decisions. Do not assume those roles are included because the enquiry mentions retrofit. Ask who is responsible for options, design, sequencing and any required scheme processes.
The work on the building
Supply and installation are separate instructions with their own scope and responsibilities. Known defects, consent and ventilation considerations need to be addressed by the appropriate parties rather than left to assumptions about a product.
The outcome and evidence
An assessment does not secure funding or promise a final energy band. Agree what information is needed, how changes will be recorded and which party confirms later project requirements. Retain the original brief with the eventual outputs.
Before the next instruction
- Property type and the reason for the retrofit assessment.
- The requesting scheme, coordinator or installer, if applicable.
- Known defects and available improvement records.
- Expected record formats, recipients and deadline.
This guide helps prepare the enquiry. The actual property, assessment and applicable requirements still need consideration.
